WHY LAGOS?
An excellent choice for travellers who want the Algarve's climate and amenities but who prefer not to be in the heart of a bustling seaside town. Lagos is reknown for its iconic golden sandy beaches, clear blue waters and sandstone cliffs. It is ideal if you want great beaches but a little more besides... Away from the beaches you'll find much to keep you occupied: historic old town, marina, shops & resturants, markets and more. The active can enjoy SUP and sea kayaks around the sea stacks, snorkelling & diving, boat trips and bike rides. For kids there's Lagos Zoo and an adventure park.
500m2 quality quinta offering outstanding facilities for a truly relaxing Algarve holiday
Extensively remodelled by its current owner, 'Funchal' is a rare holiday offering privacy, vast quality accommodation, superb amenities, stunning views and a wonderful location - it's not often you can say all of that!
INSIDE - GROUND FLOOR
The villa is entered via a walled courtyard leading to double doors which open to a grand entrance hall with its imposing staircase - it really sets the tone for the rest of the villa.
From the hall is the spacious, high quality kitchen-dining room looking out across the pool to the sea. As you would expect, the space is practical and very well-equipped.
Next you have the living room, again very generously sized and here you can enjoy relaxed evenings or watch a movie on the large plasma screen TV.
Handy cloakroom and a bar area next to the living room.
Two ground floor bedrooms lead off the entrance hall in their own wing:
Between these two bedrooms is an office room locked off to guests.
INSIDE - FIRST FLOOR
Follow the sweeping marble staircase to three bedrooms on the first floor:
Bedrooms 3, 4 & 5 share the family bathroom on the first floor.
GUEST HOUSE
In the grounds just a few steps from the main residence is the guest house comprising:
OUTSIDE
Enjoy gorgeous outside living spaces and 2000m2 of landscaped gardens with walled courtyards, fruit trees, palms and pines.
3 x doubles + 3 x twins
3 x en-suite shower rooms + 1 x family bathroom. 5 x WCs in total
Infinity pool, heating included April through October

Villa Funchal enjoys an elevated situation just 5 km to the north of Lagos - one of the western Algarve's most charming resorts.
This prestigious, peaceful location is very secluded and private - here you'll find a handful of impressive quintas.
To the west of Lagos is the stunning Costa Vicentina Natural Park where towns are few and far between. There are wonderful, secret beaches to explore and some stunning coastal scenery too.
Nearest village / town: Lagos 5 km
Nearest beach: Luz 4 km; Praia de Port de Mos and other Lagos beaches 5 km
Restaurant: Local village resturants + lots of choice in Lagos 5 km
Market: Lagos 5 km
Faro Airport 89 km (allow 1 hour)
Lagos is a leading resort on the Algarve but it's well away from the well-trodden resorts you'll find around Faro.
We love Lagos because it brings together a great package for memorable family holidays - superb beaches, loads of activities and culture too. If you add to that a wonderful climate and superb cuisine then you have all the ingredients of a wonderful holiday.
LAGOS BEACHES
The Lagos coastline is reknown for its spectacular sea caves, stacks, grottos and arches. There are many local companies that hire equipment and who provide guided excursions.
There are a dozen or so beaches in and around the town. Just to the east is Meia Praia which at 4 km is the longest stretch of sand on the western Algarve coast. There are many smaller coves immediately south and west of the town including Batata, Dona Ana and Camilo.

LAGOS ACTIVITIES
This is where Lagos excels. You can easily fill a fortnight with a wide variety of activities. Here's just a selection:
LAGOS CULTURE
Lagos is steeped in history and there's a charming old town to explore with cobbled streets and wide choice of bars and restaurants. The historic old town has retained its charm and is surrounded by the city walls. There are several historic buildings including a castle. The town's market is 'a must' visit for fresh food and souvenirs. Across the water is the newer face of Lagos with it's splendid marina.
