ANYTHING TO WATCH OUT FOR?
WHY FOZ DO ARELHO?
The small village of Foz do Arelho is an area of great natural beauty, with the Obidos Lagoon curling alongside it to meet the sea. It is a quiet, peaceful and relatively undiscovered location, perfect for relaxation. There are plenty of activities to try: sailing, SUP or kayaking in the lagoon and surfing in the Atlantic Ocean are on offer here, and if you are willing to go a little further afield, the historic castle town of Obidos is 15 minutes away by car and Lisbon is just over an hour’s drive.
Informal, spacious villa enjoying fabulous views and superb amenities
Very few rentals can pack a punch like A Lagoa! Not content with a stunning view of the lagoon and massive 16 x 5 m swimming pool, the owner Carlos's villa is something of a mini-playground with its games room, sauna, fitness room, children's play area - there's even mini golf out the back!
Without doubt, the villa is exceptionally child-friendly. But it's also been designed to welcome reduced mobility guests also.
A Lagoa is place to unwind and have some fun together.
Note it is possible to accommodate 12 or 13 guests using additional sofa beds.
INSIDE - GROUND FLOOR:
Enter via the full-equipped kitchen, off which you will find a utility room and pantry. Turn right into the centre piece living room comprising a very large, convivial lounge plus separate dining area. Two of the villa's 5 bedrooms are on the ground floor.
Next to the staircase is a handy WC.

On this level are 3 further bedrooms all with superb views across the lagoon, best enjoyed from the shared balcony running the length of the villa.
It is also possible to access the villa at this level from outside, via the parking area.
First and foremost, take in the unbelievable 180 degree views across the Lagoa d'Obidos - quite breathtaking.
Private swimming pool. Beautiful, large infinity pool 16 x 5 m, depth 0.75 - 2.0m, heated to 30 degrees. Rare for Portugal - this pool is fenced off for children's safety (glass surrounding fence). Enjoy fabulous views across the lagoon from the pool!

The villa enjoys an elevated location commanding spectacular views of Obidos lagoon.
The area’s beaches are rated as some of the best in Europe. It is relatively undiscovered by British tourists tourist market but a firm favourite with Portuguese.

Unsurprisingly, the amazing lagoon dominates our highlights of staying at Foz:
What we also love about Foz:
Foz is an undiscovered gem combining the natural beauty of Obidos Lagoon and a charming authenticity - this sweet Portuguese seaside village couldn't be any different from the Algarve.
The location of Foz at the mouth of the lagoon creates a quite spectacular scene of water and sand. Whilst the Atlantic beaches are dramatic, they give way to calm, child-friendly waters in the lagoon. The photos speak for themselves!
The beach at Foz has Blue Flag status. It's easy to find your own space and you'll certainly feel this is an authentically-Portuguese seaside resort, undiscovered by mass market tourism. The Atlantic water is relatively cool so a wetsuit is a good idea. The shallow waters of the lagoon are warm though.
The lagoon is of course a perfect spot to practise your sailing skills or try it for the first time. Head to Escola de Vela da Lagoa. In fact, windsurf, kitesurf, catamaran, optimist, canoeing, wakeboard and water ski.
The beach at Foz is pounded by Atlantic waves although in summer the wave height is typically only 1 metre. The beach is lifeguarded in sumer. Families with younger kids 'into' surfing often head down to Baleal where the waves are better for beginners. The surf school - Foz Camp - are a fountain of knowledge regarding local currents and conditions.
Village shops include 3 mini supermarkets, pharmacy, pastelaria for fresh bread and pastries, bank with ATM, tourist office, florist and fishing tackle shop (fishing is very popular amongst the locals).View More Foz do Arelho Rentals
