What makes Salema Beach Village a great holiday venue?
We've had our eye on Salema for a while now but we've been waiting for the right venue to come along. Step in Salema Beach Village...!
This venue has a number of advantages:
Families - of all ages too. Praia da Salema is perfect for younger kids. Teenagers will enjoy being able to walk down the hill into the town.
Outside the main summer season, couples can enjoy a relaxing beach holiday in Salema.
Anything to watch out for?
The Beach Village enjoys an elevated location - hence the sea views - which means it's an uphill walk back from the village/town, but it's not far.
Because it's the unspoiled Algarve. There are no crowds or over-development. Enjoy instead a pretty seaside fishing village of white-washed houses, a fabulous award-winning beach and some delightful seafood restaurants. The nearest main town - Lagos - has much to offer for active family holidays.
Contemporary, new-build townhouses offering quality accommodation and amenities
Opened in 2016, Salema Beach Village is the best accommodation available in this delightful Portuguese seaside village. The duplex townhouses are tastefully designed and you will see from the photos that the interiors and equipment are of a high standard. This is backed up with the convenience of a shared outdoor pool, seasonal snack bar plus a very friendly reception desk.
In all there are 114 townhouses on the resort. Our focus is the Sea View townhouses but we can also quote you for a standard townhouse without sea view. The accommodation and equipment is exactly the same.
Each townhouse is composed of:
The equipment is new, high quality and the same in each townhouse:

Salema Beach Village is situated in the charming seaside village of Salema, one of the western Algarve's most beautiful seaside resorts. It's just a small village and its fishing heritage still remains. It feels genuine and a world away from the 'commercial Algarve'.
Here you'll find a wonderful stretch of award-winning golden sandy beach and a sea-front with a handful of restaurants for wonderful seafood lunches and sunset drinks!
The Beach Village reception & pool area is less than 1 km to Praia da Salema - an easy walk down the hill but allow 15 minutes for the journey back! In fact, many of the townhouses are closer to the beach - c.500 metres. NB There is a seasonal free shuttle bus from the Beach Village to the beach.
Lagos is the nearest main town, 19 km to the east. Here you'll find an historic old town, a modern marina and many beautiful beaches too.
Faro Airport is an easy transfer, not much more than an hour's drive.
Nearest village / town: Salema
Nearest beach: Praia da Salema - max 850m
Restaurant: Salema - several options in walking distance
Faro Airport 103 km - allow 1h15
Service: This is the second time I've booked with Alternative Portugal and both times the accommodation has been very good. Alternative Portugal provided some useful information to help me make a decision about which holiday resort and accommodation to select. I needed to take in different needs within the family and they gave me the pros and cons of my options. The final place we selected (Salema Beach Resort) was just what we were after. All the paperwork and information was clear and in order.
Product: Staff were very good - especially the lady who first greeted us on arrival, she had a very natural manner. Accommodation was great - good size, comfortable and very clean, and loved having the daily service that kept the place clean and provided new towels and sheets. What was particularly useful was being able to swap beach towels each day. The only thing with the accommodation is that facilities are very basic if you want to cook in, which we had to do sometimes as a family to save costs. Kitchen could do with a few more serving bowls. The sea views are OK and better than not having them, but you don't get a clear view of the sea and have to peak through other apartments. The local beach was absolutely lovely, although be prepared for very cold water! We hired surf boards from Sagres, strapped these to the car and went to visit other surf beaches which were all fantastic (if you're into natural and quiet beaches). Waves weren't always that big, but sufficient to keep a couple of teenagers occupied for the day. The walk up to the Salema Beach resort is steep but it's a good way to burn off a few calories. Sometimes we got the buggy, and that was quite fun.
Product Comment: Hello & delighted that the choice of venue and village worked out for you. I think you've captured the essence of Salema really well - perfect for Algarve holidays away from the crowds. It's great that you explored the Sagres area too - so many wonderful beaches to choose from. I'm planning to visit Salema Beach Village in November and I will take a close look at the kitchen equipment - that's a really helpful insight, thank you.
Service: Easy to speak to someone knowledgable about the local area and the accommodation offered. Good information provided prior to departure.
Product: Very comfortable accommodation and perfect location close to village and beach. We hired a car which I would definitely recommend to visit different beaches and to make it easier to buy food etc. It's a very easy drive from Faro airport which took just over an hour. The pool area is lovely and a great place to spend some hours after being at one of the gorgeous beaches. The staff at the resort were brilliant and very helpful apart from one or two cleaners who decided to help themselves to some of our food :-(. It left us slightly uneasy but doesn't reflect the resort and most of its staff. If it wasn't for that I would rate it 5 stars.
Product Comment: It's the first season we've been offering Salema Beach Village but after visiting the venue and town a few months ago I was in no doubt it would be popular. I agree a few days of car hire is well worth it as there are so many wonderful beaches to discover in this unspoiled corner of Portugal. Thank you for writing and sharing your experience. PS Lovely pic - not a bad view is it?!
